The Top Five Players on the Alabama Football Roster

There are several different ways to look at the Alabama football roster. In the beginning of the season, it will feature a few key players that you may not have heard of, including Amari Kight, Derrick Henry, and Aaron Anderson. However, the team also has some surprises that you may not have seen coming. Here are the top five players that you should keep an eye out for. Then, you can make your own team by evaluating these players.

Amari Kight

Amari Kight is a junior right tackle for the Alabama football team. The former four-star offensive tackle has played in 10 career games, including seven in 2021. He is 6-foot-7, 318 pounds, and the right size for Nick Saban’s offense. Kight is the fifth-highest recruited player in school history, and he possesses the right physical traits for his position. In addition, he is athletic enough to play at right tackle, but hasn’t yet mastered the mental game.

Aaron Anderson

Among the wide receivers on the 2019 Alabama football roster, Aaron Anderson will play wide receiver, tight end, and offensive line. A graduate of Edna Karr High School in New Orleans, Anderson caught 74 passes for 926 yards last season. In addition to receiving passes, Anderson also returned kicks and punts. While initially committed to LSU, Anderson later decommitted after the departure of head coach Ed Orgeron. He will likely join fellow Louisiana native Christian Leary in the Alabama offense.

Cameron Latu

There are a number of things to know about Cameron Latu’s parents. Though his father hasn’t been revealed yet, his mother has been supportive ever since he first stepped onto an Alabama football field. Jill Argust, his mother, often cheers her son on from the sidelines. In fact, her presence has contributed to his success. While his father hasn’t been revealed yet, bits and pieces of information about his past and present have come to light.

Derrick Henry

There’s a good reason why Alabama has Derrick Henry on its football roster. The 240-pound Henry is an explosive, physical specimen who has a history of legendary weight-room exploits. He’s a rare back who never seems to wear out. Henry’s numbers from the 2015 season stand as the third-highest total for any Alabama running back. The 240-pounder is a former star running back who has played at Alabama for four years.

Keelan Cox

With the arrival of Keelan Cox, Alabama is now without two starting quarterbacks. Stone Hollenbach and Cox, both from Pennsylvania, joined Alabama over other FCS offers, but did not see playing time in either of those seasons. Now, both are competing for the starting job at Western Michigan. Unlike Stone Hollenbach, Cox did not begin playing football until his senior year in high school. He played junior college football in 2020 and then joined Alabama as a walk-on in 2021. Cox then entered the transfer portal, but committed to play at Wyoming after a visit to the team.
